Recap: Off The Screen & In The Flesh posted on March 18, 2010

A sellout crowd braved blizzard-like conditions December 19th for a chance to hang out with YouTube sensation Mitchell Davis and his sidekick, Kyle Sibert, as the duo performed their Off Screen and In the Flesh show at the famed School of Rock in Hackensack, NJ. The event was the first onstage production by a YouTube personality of its kind—a blurring of the lines between social networking and live entertainment that promises to change the way we view social media.

Davis, or livelavalive, as he’s known on YouTube, brought his singularly offbeat online presence to the School of Rock stage, where he presented live versions of his most well-known YouTube skits along with new material and a Q&A session. Davis and Sibert also welcomed a special guest: fellow YouTuber Meekakitty, who delighted the audience with her own brand of antics, including a surprise Silly String attack on Davis.

The success of this flagship event has helped push the livelavalive phenomenon to new heights. In addition to keeping his fans supplied with weekly YouTube videos, Davis has been busy planning a nation-wide tour. His YouTube channel is currently ranked number thirty-two on the site’s Most Subscribed (All-Time) list, and his videos have been viewed a combined total of over 66 million times.
